All Donations Are Special

All donations are special and we want to highlight just a few

Project H.O.O.D. is grateful for all donations received, no matter how small or how large. During these extraordinary times, these funds go a long way.

Since COVID-19 afflicted our great country, Project H.O.O.D., like many other organizations, had no time to pause. Our programs were affected, our young people could no longer congregate in our safe haven, and a lot of meaningful interactions had to change.

We have had food giveaways for struggling families and those laid off from work. Masks, gloves, hand sanitizer were given, thanks to the help of our sponsors. We helped individuals who could not make their rent due to the work stoppage. And, now, we just want to highlight a few people who continue to help us serve our community.

Jake Selbst and Colton Horn, both 21, started working at Cutco. Cutco hires college students and it is where these two young men got their start in business. Every year, Cutco has Push Week where sales people are incentivized to really go above and beyond their sales levels.

This year while visiting their former office, Jake and Colton came out of retirement to participate in Push Week. While this may not seem exceptional upon first look, what is exceptional is that Jake and Colton decided to donate all of their Push Week sales commissions to Project H.O.O.D.

Jake said that he has long been inspired by Project H.O.O.D. especially after hearing Pastor Corey Brooks speak at his dad’s birthday party. He said that economic development, a major focus of Project H.O.O.D., perfectly aligns with his and Colton’s morals and values.

Through their relationship with Pastor Brooks and Project H.O.O.D., they have gained a firsthand perspective on the south side and particular challenges faced by the community.

The guys have donated $5,400 in sales commissions to Project H.O.O.D.

Thanks, guys!

The purposeful contributions Sylvie Légère and Todd Ricketts have made to Project H.O.O.D. have helped our organization to grow and serve. Sylvie has been key in helping Project H.O.O.D. develop our Women’s Entrepreneur Center that focuses on business development, workplace skills, and the political policies that affect women in the workplace.

The Ricketts contribute to our Annual Gala every year. The gala is our biggest fundraiser and the main source of funding for Project H.O.O.D.’s programs.

This year, the Ricketts have donated $25,000 to our Gala on October 8, 2020. At our last Food Drive-Up/Walk-Up event on August 22, 2020, the Ricketts bought all of the vegetables.

Todd Ricketts and Sylvie Légère and the Chicago Cubs have been unwavering friends to Project H.O.O.D.

Thank you, Todd and Sylvie! We appreciate you!

Project H.O.O.D. looks forward to highlighting more of our donors and friends in the coming days!
