Project H.O.O.D. Communities
Helping Others Obtain Destiny
Pastor Corey B. Brooks founded Project H.O.O.D. in 2011 while on the rooftop of that motel and registered Project H.O.O.D. as a 501 c(3) organization in 2012.
We are located at 6620 South King Drive, Chicago, IL 60637.
What we do.
At Project H.O.O.D., we provide mentorship, training, and community for residents of Woodlawn and Englewood. We care for our neighbors through services that empower.
Why we do it.
Our goal to end the cycle of poverty, violence, and incarceration drives us. We believe all people hold the power to transform their own lives and become peacemakers, leaders, and entrepreneurs.
How do we change people’s lives?
We provide an alternative to violence and hopelessness. We show up for people with a supportive community ready to embrace them and harness their inherent potential.
What beliefs drive our work?
All people deserve another chance.
Everyone is worthy of love and opportunity—and capable of turning their life around. We show up for those with no one else to turn to. Nobody is a lost cause.
Personal responsibility is paramount
When individuals take responsibility for their actions, they are able to take control of their destiny.
Education creates possibilities
Teaching and learning marketable skills are a pathway to stability, success and upward mobility.
Community care is the best care
We provide people with a special place of refuge. We are best equipped to provide care and support because they trust us. We understand their needs and struggles.
