Considering the recent spike in gun violence involving black females, the Project H.O.O.D. Violence Impact Team has started an aggressive endeavor that, not only addresses curbing the violence that directly affects the women in our community but also, equips them with the tools that would increase their awareness of their surroundings and the dangers of high-risk activities.
We have established a support group that aids and helps build strong self-worth, family ties, morale building, and parenting solutions. These workshops are lively, dynamic—and most of all, inspirational and encouraging.
The Violence Impact Team’s bi-weekly workshops address:
1. Self-awareness, pride, and self-esteem; building confidence in one’s value as a vibrant human being.
2. Understanding the importance and maintenance of a strong, safe, progressive, and healthy environment in both the home and community.
3. Understanding the impact of behavior on child development
4. Career and personal advancement
5. Balancing work stresses
6. Resources for addiction
7. Decision-making skills
