CAPTAIN CHALLENGE BIKES CROSS-COUNTRY TO RAISE MONEY FOR PROJECT H.O.O.D.

Daniel “Captain Challenge” Powell

On February 9, 2022, after spending seven days on a rooftop with Pastor Corey Brooks for the extended 100 Day Campout Against Violence in Chicago (in freezing temperatures), Daniel “Captain Challenge” Powell embarked on a 40-day, 2,448 miles, cross-country bike trip on Route 66 from Chicago to Los Angeles to help raise money for Project H.O.O.D.

Pastor Brooks is raising $35million to build a state-of-the-art Leadership and Economic Opportunity Center on Chicago’s south side. Powell completed his journey on March 20, 2022, when he arrived at Santa Monica Pier for a celebration party with friends and supporters.

He had a second celebration in his hometown of Solana Beach, CA on Saturday, March 26th with friends, family, and business professionals who all donated to Project H.O.O.D. The festivities included a marching band performance by the University of Southern California Trojan Marching Band.

Captain Challenge raised a total of $166,000 for Project H.O.O.D.!

Powell also signed a $250,000 pledge with naming rights for the fitness center in the new Leadership and Economic Opportunity Center. Project H.O.O.D. will designate the fitness area as The Daniel Edward Powell Family Fitness Center.

Daniel “Captain Challenge” Powell started the next segment of his journey to raise funds for Project H.O.O.D. on Saturday, April 16, 2022. He is now headed from San Diego to New Orleans.

We will keep you posted on his progress.

Thank you, Captain Challenge!
