PROJECT H.O.O.D. CAMPERS TOUR O’HARE AIRPORT WITH AMERICAN AIRLINES

Field Trip Brings Awareness to Endless Possibilities

This week, the kids of Project H.O.O.D’s CampRefuge had a field trip to Chicago’s O’Hare Airport hosted by American Airlines. During this experience, the kids and counselors learned about the various different aspects of the airport experience, including security, baggage carriers, traffic control, and the cockpit. The kids and counselors took a tour of multiple areas of a plane including the cockpit, the cargo area, and traffic control center. During lunch, the Project H.O.O.D. group was able to meet with pilots and managers which allowed these professionals to tell their stories. Additionally, the kids were able to ask all of their questions about their experiences and what it would require for them to become a part of this field. The interactive experience was very eye-opening and made Project H.O.O.D’s youth aware of the endless possibilities available to them.
